Prophetic Mandate 2/7

Air date: July 14, 2015

Hello, everyone. I'm Michael Holcomb and in this video I am delivering to you the second of seven parts of a dramatic, a prophetic mandate that, I believe, God is calling the church to adopt in order to be effective in what many see as dark and fearful times.

Last week, I delivered the first component of this mandate, which is really the overall theme: that we are to consider ourselves to be missionaries to our own nation. The next component is this:

We must make a RADICAL CHANGE IN REGARDS TO PRAYER!

WE HAVE MUCH TO LEARN in the practice of prayer. Those who survive and thrive in this hour will be those who go beyond the elementary stages of token prayers and wish-list praying. God is calling ALL OF US to become experts in prayer

  • The Spirit is rallying the children of God to intercession, travail, in short, to the labor of prayer.
  • We must become experts in the weapons of our warfare if we are going to see strongholds.

PRAYER MEETINGS: INCREASE IN AMOUNT, TIME, AND FERVENCY.

  • More prayer meetings and making more occasions for prayer.
  • Get a vision for prayer in your church: open the sanctuary during the day, shoot for having various shifts, build 24 hour facilities.
  • And let us get more concentrated in prayer ABOUT SOULS. And may I add that we pray for others whether we feel like it or not.

ELDERS, WORSHIP OR SONG SERVICE TEAMS, Sunday School teachers, ushers, greeters, altar workers, Bible study leaders, EVERY task force in the church – let ALL be characterized by organized prayer and let all those involved be instructed to maintain a SERIOUS prayer life.

GET THE YOUTH INVOLVED!

  • Encourage children and teen-agers to “take off” in prayer, and make places and occasions for them.

It is time to begin praying in the home as families!

* * * *

WE ARE NOT CALLED TO A HALF-HEARTED PRACTICE.

  • Merely SUGGESTING there be more prayer in the church has proven to be one of our downfalls, an incorrect and defective emphasis. If GOD insists on praying without ceasing, then by the Spirit of Christ who lives in us, we will insist, we will take up praying without ceasing.
  • It is time for all of us to provoke one another to the missionary work of MUCH prayer; and we can and we will overcome our inferior approaches to and practices of this exercise and, by God’s grace, enter into a new era of the Church seeing what we have, up to this point, only wished for, only talked about: amazing growth and unbelievable breakthroughs, a time that is now before us if only we cooperative in Christ’s efforts of love.

LET ME REMIND YOU THAT JESUS IS ALL ABOUT PRAYER.

  • In one of the most extreme outbursts of emotion, He cleansed the temple and declared that “my house shall be a house of prayer.
  • Jesus prayed much.
  • And there was at least one instance where He prayed until great drops of blood.
  • My friends, if we are to see Jesus high and lifted up, then we must allow His drive and burden of prayer to consume us!

CHALLENGE TO FELLOW MINISTERS: we are to GIVE OURSELVES to prayer.

  • We have to cut out somethings.
  • Public prayers are no substitute for a zealous and healthy prayer life.
  • Stretch yourself in prayer and the spiritual atmosphere will intensify.

THERE IS SATISFACTION IN MUCH PRAYER because this is the activity in which we meet and touch God. Prayer is the occasion when we interact with Christ.

Many of you may be discouraged, disoriented, and on the verge of giving up because of what you see around you; but Jesus has plans of victory for the church—and He WILL give them to all who meet Him in prayer!
